PhotoSecure portable scanners authenticate genuine marks...
PhotoSecure's scanning technology packages several capabilities into small, hand-holdable devices:
Interrogation: Each scanner is tuned to emit a flash of light at the correct frequency to stimulate a particular customer's unique markings.
Detection: If there is no response to the interrogating strobe, then a mark may be missing entirely. This is probably not a genuine product.
Validation: If a mark fluoresces with precisely the characteristics (including color) assigned to a PhotoSecure client, then the product is almost certainly genuine. An indicator on the scanner flashes to let the operator know that a valid mark has been found.

If a UPC barcode or other method has been used to encode serial number, batch identity, or other data into the secure mark, the scanner records that information.
... and transmit it for analysis and reporting, via the Internet.
Each PhotoSecure scanner has the capability to communicate with local or remote computer systems. It can quickly upload both validation results and encoded data for analysis at a centralized data center.
